Raised in the Philadelphia area, Karl’s artistic talents were heightened during his teen years attending the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for Excellence in the Arts. His passion for photography led him across the United States capturing its beauty as he traveled. Arriving in San Francisco California in the 1990s, Karl found opportunity during the internet boom and opened his first studio on Fulton Street. In 2000, Karl joined a state-of-the-art digital studio complex, now known as Starpoint Studios, staffed by a brilliant group of photographers, artists and entrepreneurs. For the following 5 years at Starpoint, he sharpened his skills in production, first as key grip and digital technician then studio manager. Karl moved on to shoot as a freelance photographer on the Macy’s West account. He worked closely with producers, art directors, stylists and digital artists on every aspect of a shoot from capture to print. This definitive experience gave Karl a solid understanding of the value of a well executed shoot. Karl’s creative intuitions and conceptual perspective is revealed in his connection with his subject. Whether an assignment is simple or complex, Karl creates dynamic images that perpetuate the client’s mission, establishes leadership and maintains position in a demanding marketplace. In addition to his commercial work, Karl creates fine art to share his personal expressions visually.
